Finding the Network Adapter Address for Windows
Accessing the Command Prompt in Windows XP
- Click on the 'Start' icon
- Click on 'Run'
- Type "cmd" and hit enter. This will bring up the command console

- Click on the 'Start' icon
- In the Start Search bar, type "cmd" and hit enter. This will bring up the command console
Using the Command Prompt to find the Physical IP
- Type "ipconfig /all" into the command line. This will display all of the information about your Ethernet adapters ***Depending on your hardware, you will see different information***
- The section labeled "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection" is the network adapter that you plug in
- The section labeled "Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection" is the network adapter that receives wireless internet
- In either section, the adapter address that you want is labeled "Physical Address." a physical address is a 12 character alpha numeric code that looks something like (05-00-45-54-40-A1)
