Cached Mode
Setting Outlook to run in "Cached Mode" will create a local copy of your e-mail, calendar, contacts and other account contents on your computer. For computers that may not have a constant connection to the server, this allows access to older e-mails even when no network connection is present.
Cached Mode in Outlook 2007
- Click Tools.
- Choose Account Settings.
- Select your account (there is usually only one) and click Change.
- Make sure that the checkbox next to the words "Use Cached Exchange Mod" is checked.
- Click Next.
- Click OK.
- Click Finish.
The next time you start Outlook, it will create a local copy of your e-mail inbox, calendar, journal, contacts and tasks.
Cached Mode in Outlook 2003
- Click Tools.
- Choose E-mail Accounts.
- Choose View or Change Existing Accounts and click Next.
- Select your account (there is usually only one) and click Change.
- Make sure that the checkbox next to the words "Use Cached Exchange Mod" is checked.
- Click Next.
- Click OK.
- Click Finish.
The next time you start Outlook, it will create a local copy of your e-mail inbox, calender, journal, contacts and tasks.
