Blocking Senders
If you're getting annoying e-mails from someone and want to stop hearing from them entirely, the quickest method is to block that person. This is also a method of reducing spam, although we do filter for spam at the server level, also.
Blocking Individuals and Domains in Outlook 2003/2007
- Click the Tools menu.
- Click Options.
- Click the Preferences tab. This is the first tab.
- Click Junk E-mail... This is the first button from the top.
- Click the Block Senders tab.
- Click Add...
- Enter the e-mail address of the person you want to block, or enter the domain to block an entire domain (everything following the @ sign).
- Repeat the process for each address or domain you wish to add, then click OK.
The user's e-mail will now automatically filter into the Junk E-mail folder. Note that you cannot block members of the vetmed domain.
Removing Names from the Blocked Senders List in Office 2003/2007
- Click the Tools menu.
- Click Options.
- Click the Preferences tab. This is the first tab.
- Click Junk E-mail... This is the first button from the top.
- Click the Block Senders tab.
- Click the user you wish to unblock.
- Click Remove.
- Repeat the process for each address or domain you wish to unblock, then click OK.
Blocking Individuals in Office 2000/XP
- In your inbox, click an e-mail from a sender you want to block.
- Click the Actions menu.
- Click Junk E-mail.
- Click Add to Junk Senders List.
Unblocking Individuals in Office 2000/XP
- Click the Tools menu.
- Click Organize.
- Click Junk E-mail.
- Click the link at the bottom of the pane.
- Click the Edit Junk Senders link.
From here you can make changes to the list of blocked senders you've set.
