Remote Desktop
Connect to your work computer from a home desktop or laptop
Before you try to Remote Desktop from home:
- You need Windows XP or Windows Vista Note: If you have Windows 95, 98, 98SE, NT4, 2000, or Mac OS X, you will need to download a program. Click here to do so.
- You need the name of the computer you are trying to connect to. To find the name of your computer, click here.
Opening the Console, Windows XP:
- Click the Windows 'Start' icon
- Click 'Run...'
- Type in 'mstsc'
- Hit 'Enter.' this will bring up the remote desktop console
Opening the Console, Windows Vista:
- Click the Windows Start button
- In the Start Search bar, type in 'mstsc'
- Hit 'Enter.' this will bring up the remote desktop console
The Remote Desktop Console
- Type in the name of the computer that you want to connect to; it will look something like MN111-A.vetmed.wsu.edu
- A login screen will now show up similar to the login screen on your work computer
- Fill in your Vetmed Username and Password
- Click 'OK'
- ***Warning*** If someone is already logged into the computer it will warn you that continuing will log this person off and they will lose all unsaved data
- You should now be connected to your work computer
