Finding Your Computer's Name
Your Computer's Name on the Network (Windows XP)
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type "sysdm.cpl" without the quotes and Press Enter
- Click the Computer Name tab
- The name will be listed in this tab as Full Computer Name. This is the name the network uses to identify your computer.
Windows Vista
- Open the Start Menu
- Right-click Computer and click Properties
- On the left-hand side of the system window, under tasks, click Advanced system settings
- If User Account Control asks your permission to continue, click Continue
- In the System Properties window, click the Computer Name tab
- The name will be listed in this tab as Full Computer Name. This is the name the network uses to identify your computer.
