Wireless VPN for XP
Access the wireless internet on the WSU campus
Before you set up the Microsoft VPN client on your Windows XP machine:
- You must have a valid WSU Network ID name and password.
If you are faculty/staff, it is the ID that you would use to check your payroll online, and if you are a student, it is the ID that you would use to register for classes.
***It is not necessarily the same as your VETMED logon ID*** - You must have a valid Active Directory Account that is enabled and unlocked. Click here to check your status.
- In order to connect to the wireless network on campus, make sure your wireless network card is active.
To activate the wireless network card: Go to your Start, Control Panel, Network Connections window and check your wireless connection.
Automatic VPN Installer: Download here
- When you click the link, choose the option to Save the folder rather than Open
- You will need to extract the "VPN" folder anywhere onto your computer
- Then run the WSUVPN_v1.1.vbs file
- Instructions for setting up your VPN connection manually are found here.
Starting Your Connection
Once you've run the automatic installer:
- Enable your wireless card.
- Double-click the icon for your wireless card in the taskbar (near the clock) to view available wireless networks.
- Connect to wsunexus. If wsunexus is not listed, either your wireless card is not enabled or the building you are in does not provide wireless access.
- Double-click the WSU VPN icon on your desktop.
- Enter your WSU username and password. This is the password you use to access payroll and to register for classes, not your vetmed login.
- Click connect. Once VPN verifies your username and password, you'll be able to access the internet.
